When we bought this lamp we didn't realise it came with a multi-coloured flashing light. However, we have tested it with a normal light bulb and it's a stunner. We'll send it out to it's new abode with the lampshade pictured but we do recommend you going on the hunt for something fun to showcase the warm tones of the base.
